MINIMUM
Qualifications:
A combination of two (2) years of related experience and/or education such as:
construction, rehab, carpentry, or maintenance experience.
College course work in industrial arts.
Course work or experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical or other related course work or experience.
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Willingness to travel for training purposes.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Housing Inspector, under the direct supervision of the Housing Choice Voucher Specialist II, is responsible for the execution and reporting of all HCV Housing Inspections.
The Housing Inspector is responsible for maintaining a professional working relationship with HCV owners, clients, and the community at large.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
1.
Coordinate and schedule a variety of HCV inspections including annual, tenant complaint, and 24-hour emergency inspections.
2.
Conduct housing inspections of all Housing Choice Voucher dwelling units to assure compliance with established housing standards.
3.
Report deficiencies, determines who is responsible for repairs, and establishes deadlines for completion of work based on policy drive timelines.
4.
Evaluate corrections of any Housing Quality Standard deficiencies so that authorization for HAP payment can be completed.
5.
Process inspection results via electronic devise and transfer data to written.
6.
Prepare daily written correspondence with tenants and landlords on inspection findings.
7.
Responsible for data input and reporting of all HQS Inspections.
8.
Ensure timely completion of required forms or reports.
9.
Fulfill all duties and responsibilities with a high level of integrity, honesty and adherence to agency policies and rules.
10.
Represent VHA in the community as necessary.
11.
Perform other related duties as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Modern office practices and procedures, business correspondence, proper English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- MS Software (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Housing program policies and procedures.
- Effective and outstanding customer service techniques.
- Working knowledge of the Housing Choice Voucher Program - Working knowledge of department practices and procedures - Working knowledge of building maintenance problem - Working ability to express ideas and outcomes in oral and written form - Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective relationship with fellow employees, tenants, and owners - Considerable ability to initiate work projects and to work independently - Working ability to diagnose and analyze housing conditions - Certification in Housing Quality Standards within 1 year of employment Please submit a letter of interest, resume and two (2) references.
