Plumber
NOTE:
This is a TERM appointment (not-to-exceed 9/30/2016).
Term appointments are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration (more than 1 year but not more than 4).
Term employees are eligible to earn leave and generally have the same benefits as permanent employees including health and life insurance, within-grade increases and Federal Employees Retirement System and Thrift Savings Plan coverage.
Term appointments may be extended without further competition (up to the 4 year maximum).
The appointment to a Term position does not confer eligibility for promotion or reassignment to other positions or the ability to be non-competitively converted to permanent employment.
This position is located in Engineering Service at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, Illinois.
As a Plumber, you will be responsible for installing, modifying, repairing and maintaining all of the facility's plumbing and plumbing-related devises.
Your duties include, but are not limited, to the following:
o Installs a variety of plumbing fixtures, soft water systems, dietetic equipment, dental equipment, laboratory equipment, vacuum lines, nitrous oxide, air, gas, piped oxygen, sterilizers, hot water heaters, hot water systems, hydrants, storm drainage, sanitary drainage, chilled water piping systems, etc.
o Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs plumbing systems;o Assists the pipefitter in repairs of steam piping, traps, steam-operated equipment and installation;o Plans, lays out and completes installations, modifications and repairs of plumbing systems;o Plans and lays out plumbing using building plans, blueprints, sketches;o Plans and lays out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall and proper operation of systems and equipment; o Repairs plumbing fixtures, supplies, vents, and drains; ando Uses appropriate tools for installations and repairs (e.
g.
pipe wrenches, snakes, plungers, drills, pipe threader, etc.
).
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday - 7:
45am to 4:
15pm.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
