Program Support Assistant

This position is located within Ambulatory Care Services, under the Whole Health Program at the Illiana VA Health Care System in Danville, Illinois and is established to provide a wide variety of general administrative and clerical functions. The incumbent serves as primary support to the Whole Health Program Clinical Director and Program Manager. The Whole Health Program promotes personalized, proactive care, that affirms the importance of the relationship between patients and their healthcare team. The focus of the program is on empowerment in order to achieve optimal health within the whole person through patient centered care and self-healing. Major Duties:
Receives visitors and telephone calls in a professional and confidential manner. Monitors and controls business papers, correspondence, and records including the coordination of action papers with office staff. Provides technical assistance to staff regarding computer or printer problems and refers issues that cannot be resolved to OI&T for resolution. Provides training for staff regarding use of computer applications to include Vista, CPRS, Outlook, Word, Access, Power Point, and Excel. Serves as a Whole Health Program Point of Contact for computers, printers, and telephones to include submitting and tracking OI&T requests. Manages calendars, schedules appointments, coordinates meetings, and/or schedules conferences for multiple individuals. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05 grade level. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. GS-06 Level:
Must possess one (1) full year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in Federal service that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position? Specialized experience for this position includes:
Planning and organizing the activities of a program area including directing the activities of other staff in support of the program and working as a liaison with other organizations. Collecting data, tracking required measures of performance, and running various office reports. Processes and prepares incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication. Working with computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, and VISTA. Ability to act as the ADP Coordinator including performing minor software and hardware problem resolution. As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
