Human Resource Assistant (Info Sys/OA)

There is 1 HR Assistant position at Danville and 2 at Milwaukee. The Human Resources Assistant position is under the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Section of the centralized Human Resources Management Service. The Human Resources Assistant (Info Systems/OA) serves in a developmental capacity at the GS-05 level. Key functions will be like those described above. During the developmental assignment, full performance range and level of selected functions will not be completely delegated to the employee until proper orientation and training have been completed and the incumbent has demonstrated the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to accomplish the work at the full performance level.
Responsibilities:
-Process a variety of complex official personnel actions using multiple HR information systems. -Ensure all information systems are updated accurately and timely. -Review nature of action and regulatory authority, remarks, etc. -Establish and maintain Electronic Official Personnel Folders (eOPF); scan and upload documents to the folder, review folders for accuracy, and purge documents no longer required. -Type letters, reports, tabulated materials, and memos. -Perform other related duties as assigned. The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Experience:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized to at least the GS-4 level in Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as:
Performing a variety of record keeping, reporting, and information duties; performing receptionist duties; preparing a wide variety of correspondence and reports using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Power Point, and Excel to perform clerical duties; using a computerized system to edit and retrieve information from a database; familiarity with the functions of a human resources department; maintaining personnel files. OR GS-5 Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successful completion of a full 4 year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable for this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond high school. Experience:

Must have extensive human resources benefits and coding, using a variety of automated programs; extensive ability to perform data entry and typing correspondence and other documentation without supervision; the ability to review documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines; ability to assist and train others with human resources such as staffing, process, and use of automated systems. TYPING PROFICIENCY:

The work is primarily performed while sitting and can involve sitting for long periods of times and involves some periods of walking and standing.
