This position is located at the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System in Danville, IL. within the Facility Management Service. The incumbent is responsible for operation and maintenance of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems which includes ventilation, and heating systems and all associated equipment through out the facility.Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for operation, maintenance, trouble shooting and repair for all reheat systems, chillers, DX Systems, through-the-wall systems, air handling units, wall fin radiators, reciprocating and centrifugal compressors, pneumatic and electronic controls, walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, etc Completes Preventive Maintenance and repair work orders according to service policy, prepares requests for repair parts, material and operating supplies Installs, adjusts, and maintains heating equipment, valves, air handlers, convectors, heaters, motorized/solenoid valves and traps on electronic and pneumatic control systems. Reads blue prints of machinery and systems. Determines faults in systems using electrical prints and schematic drawings. Cuts and solders copper tubing. Charge/purge refrigeration systems. Repair/replace pumps. Inspect and test systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications. Repairs malfunctions to systems that involve a variety of compressors and a variety of refrigerant controls. Repairs hermetically sealed motors and pressure controls. Able to recognize malfunctioning equipment/systems and potentially dangerous operating conditions and still in applying preventive maintenance procedures and operational repairs. Work Schedule:

Experience:
A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. Your background must demonstrate experience in air conditioning, refrigeration and heating equipment and systems to include repair, installation and troubleshooting. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.& carrying is required. Straight pulling, hand over hand pulling, pushing, reaching above shoulder, use of fingers and hands; walking; crawling, kneeling, and climbing ;and repeated bending.
